new chaintech motherboard and no video

I just replaced my motherboard with a Chaintech 9VIF1 Socket 478 and P4 processor. I have attached all jumpers, IDE 1/2, floppy and installed my sound card and video card. Everything powers up properly except I get no signal for video and get nothing on the monitor in order to be able go into the BIOS.

Is there anything someone can suggest? I don't want to have to put my old crappy motherboard back together.

Stupid question, but you did attach the second power connector to the motherboard, yes?

Obviously don't know your specs but:
Are the front side bus jumpers/bios settings set correctly for your CPU? 400?533?800?
Are you absolutely sure that the brass standoff posts that mount the motherboard are only in the places that match up to the brite solder ring mounting positions? you may have a mounting post too many, shorting out the motherboard (commonly missed when swopping a mainboard)
Reset the cmos clear and the the bios (or remove the button lithium battery for a few minutes)
Lastly, is it firing up? and then going to black screen loading windows?
If you are using an existing installation of windows on the new motherboard it will black screen, this is because it was configured on the OLD setup and the drivers don't match the new components.
Reinstall of the OS is required for best longterm operation.

I'm afraid I've never really done this before, but thought I'd take a stab at it before paying someone to do it.

I don't really see a second power connector for the motherboard (just the main one that connected to my old one).

Since I can't get video, I'm unable to check the BIOs for the CPU settings. The cpu fan does spin, the CD roms' lights go on and work, the hard drives appear to power up as well.

I tried clearing the CMOS. The instructions say to disconnect power, then move the jumper cap for couple seconds, then back, but doesn't seem to help.

I verified that there are no extra brass mounting rings; all are connected to a screw.

When I power up, I also hear the RAM check, hard drives are all running. I'm going to see if I can try another video card.

I do have an extra 12V atx power connection on the motherboard, but I do not have anything to connect it with on this particular power supply within my case. I also noticed that my tv card only fits into the AGP slot and the other video card I just tried (which also didn't work) fits into the PCI slot. I'm not sure if the motherboard needs to be configured to use the AGP for my video, but since I can't get into the Bios, I'm kinda screwed. If I could get the onboard VGA to work, then I can check to see what the Bios says, but that don't work either.

One other thing I noticed, I have the Power led and hdd led setup in the proper places. The hdd light does come on (on constantly), but the green light in front does not come on. Does that indicate that some part of the board isn't getting power?

I switched the Pled the other way and now it is on as well. No beeps upon powering up.

It turns out I have to buy a new power supply. The extra power connection is required. Thanks for all your suggestions! Do you have to do anything with xp pro?

As power supplies with this extra connector have been standard for several years, I'm guessing your PSU was rather old and underpowered anyway.
Just because lights come on and the fan spins does not mean the PSU is necessarily any good, it could be that it is dead on one of it's power rails.
Change the PSU and see how you go, you've got to buy one anyway.

I have the oddest thing happening... New built PC with brand new motherboard Asrock pV88 (no onboard video), New CPU 2.4 "320" Celeron,New ATI 64MB PCI installed and, I am getting no video. The oddest part is I have the main ATX Power supply hooked up to the Motherboard but when I hook the 12V (yellow n black) connector to the motherboard everthing goes dead. When everthing was put together I was getting nothing, as soon as I unhooked the small 12V connector the fans all started working.... but the system it is still not fully functional without the 12V. No video, so I am not sure if the system is booting at all...as you can guess I cannot do anything without video. The system and mb will not work fully without the 12V conneted right?? I have read the forums and have not come across this problem before. ANy and All suggestions would be appreciated. Thanks!!

Also, my CPU heatsink came with a grey goop on the bottom of it, am supposed to remove that and put a thermal grease between the heatsink and CPU would this be causing any major problems? Thanks again for your suggestions.
