sorry if its been asked before but i'm just wandering what the new syllabus involves. i believe there is no more isdn and it not in 2 parts not 4.

what additions would i have to study and what doesn'tneed studying compared to the previous version.

many thanks
chris

Chris,

I think you are mixing several things up like maybe the CCNA exam and the Cisco Network Academy classes.

The CCNA exam is still offered in both the 1 exam or the 2 exam option.

The Cisco Network Academy classes are still based on 4 semesters - they have 2 different tracts - Discovery or Exploration with Exploration going into deeper content.

Here is the Cisco website for the CCNA, it has good information -

As for what is on the new CCNA - here is what Cisco says -

Exam Description
The 640-802 Cisco Certified Network Associate (CCNA) is the composite exam associated with the Cisco Certified Network Associate certification. Candidates can prepare for this exam by taking the Interconnecting Cisco Networking Devices Part 1 (ICND1) v1.0 and the Interconnecting Cisco Networking Devices Part 2 (ICND2) v1.0 courses. This exam tests a candidate's knowledge and skills required to install, operate, and troubleshoot a small to medium size enterprise branch network. The topics include connecting to a WAN; implementing network security; network types; network media; routing and switching fundamentals; the TCP/IP and OSI models; IP addressing; WAN technologies; operating and configuring IOS devices; extending switched networks with VLANs; determining IP routes; managing IP traffic with access lists; establishing point-to-point connections; and establishing Frame Relay connections.

Exam Topics
The following topics are general guidelines for the content likely to be included on the Cisco Certified Network Associate exam. However, other related topics may also appear on any specific delivery of the exam. In order to better reflect the contents of the exam and for clarity purposes, the guidelines below may change at any time without notice.

Describe how a network works
Describe the purpose and functions of various network devices
Select the components required to meet a network specification
Use the OSI and TCP/IP models and their associated protocols to explain how data flows in a network

ah, ok, i see, i think, so its just the exam that has changed.

i'm currently waiting to do the 3rd and 4th parts of the academy.

thanks
chris

motoxmacman,

The Cisco Academy has changed to go with the new CCNA Exam, however Cisco Academy students will have some more time to take the "old" CCNA exam.

It all depends what version of the curreculum that YOUR academy is using - the old was version 3.1, the new is the Discovery or Exploration!

You might want to ask your Academy when you start semesters 3 and 4!

Hope this helps!
