I have an annoying problem with Interdev 6.0 SP5, When I click File -> New File.. I don't have ASP file listed as one of the types to create, however if I click Project -> New Web Item.. I have ASP page, site diagram, style sheet, etc.. Wonder how to get ASP a part of my New file button?

Thanks,

All you do to create a new ASP page is open a html page, and when you save it, give it the asp extension.

There isn't a optionto open a ASP page becuase essentially it isn't any different than a HTML page. At least not in how InterDev handles it. WHen you open a stylesheet or something like that interdev has to load some other things, but a ASP page is treated just like a htm or html page as far as MS is concerned in Interdev. The money's gone, the brain is shot.....but the liquor we still got.

Actually another version of InterDev that I use to have access to did have ASP as a specific type of file along side HTML.. I know technically the two files are the same just ASP has server side code w/ HTML while HTML is based on straight HTML.. However my question is to have access to create a new ASP file without having a project open. Any ideas how to get ASP file type to show up in the general New File menu?

Thanks

Actually I believe all you have to do is create the template for the ASP page in the appropriate folder. Under the installation folder (..Studio\VIntDev98) is a Templates folder. Within this are folders fairly self explanatory (NewFileItems, Web Project Items, etc.). Just create your base ASP file and place it in the appropriate folder. So, when you put it in the newfileitems folder, it should show up in the new file item menu.

Right on, thank you very much that worked like a charm.

Thanks again.
