New 5410 Phone Displays "Please Wait"

Do not know much about the ip office systems or phones but the working directory is C:\Program Files\Avaya\IP Office\Manager\config files. When I go to help and about within the mangaer it does not tell me the version there is a mess of text and sprecial characters.

C:\Program Files\Avaya\IP Office\Manager

This will not stop other phones from working? This directory I am guessing is only for the initial setup of a phone?

Correct. All other phones will work fine. Once a phone updates, if it has the proper BIN files loaded already it doesn't look for any new ones.

don't forget to set the tftp ip address as the same computer that manager is installed on.

I got in contact with support and they are telling me changing that directory will not make a difference. what they recommend is creating a windows 2000 virtual machine with the software installed on it and making it the tftp and just turn the thing on when we install new phones. The software inside the 5410 phones are not compatible with current phone system. When I try this I will update this post.

you could just open manager when you install new phones

Don't listen to them, they are clearly idiots who don't know what they are talking about, even if Manager didn't act as TFTP server (which it does) you could use MV IP Tel or solarwinds (both free)as TFTP servers and that would work too, there is no scenario where making a virtual machine would help........Idiots
