Guys,

I recently moved to the IRIX OS
I am trying to network my OCTANE with my PC/Win2000,
the machines can ping each other succesfuly but nothing more.

I was hoping to share the drives from the PC....

Any suggestions?
Can you direct me to some reading material?

Please help.

You need NFS server software for your PC ....

Or SAMBA on your IRIX box. Although this will share the
nominated directories on your Octane and make them visible
as Windows drives to your PC. This is the opposite of
what you describe you would like, but it will achieve connectivity between your machines and give you drag-and-drop file sharing and it is free, even for commercial use.

Have a look at for more information on Samba.

Hope this helps.
