I need two network two MICS's together can someone please step me through this. They both have 6.1 software and will need to share the same PRI's for inbound/outbound traffic. I would like to be able to dial extension to extension between them and let them share the same line pools. All sets do have DID's assigned to them. I would like to know if it is possible for them to share the NAM also. These two systems are in the same room. I done this in school but it was a long time ago and on older software. I would appreciate any assistance.

before 5.0 you cannot share a voicemail

you need a point to point PRI between the systems (not a cable)
you need Advanced Pvt networking software keycodes on both systems
both systems need to have different numbering plans ...say 2000 and 3000

2 will be a routing code to go into system A and 3 will be a routing code to go into system B
assign target lines appropriately ...

Thanks for the information. Why do I need a Telco PRI v/s just a cable to simulate point to point. Is the PRI necessary for central voice mail or for everything.

You can do it with the cable just remember to flip T&R pairs. But yes it does have to be PRI and you do need the MCDN also to do SL1 protocol. I think the side with the NAM has to be the Master and the other side the slave. You need to also set up CDP to do the centralized mail.

Both sites may be timing master.
Both sites must use the SL1 protocol for the link.
One site must use ascending order the other must use descending order.
It is recommended that the ascending site be the network master and that the descending site be the user slave.
You will see these setting once the SL1 protocol is enabled via MCDN keycode and the protocol is selected in software.
The voicemail must be assigned a target line and redirect DN must be enabled via f983.
As well you must assign the mail DN as the VMsg center
