I've got 2 PC's both running XP professional.
They are connected to the internet via a HUB and router.
But when trying to set up an internal network something is going wrong.

PC A cant see B But B can see A. Trouble is that when trying to acess A then B reports that A dosn't exist.

PC A can only see its own shared folders....

What maybe the cause to this????? (We take fewer prisoners than Djenghis Khan)

Do you have the workgroup/domain set the same for both machines. Have you tried the UNC to access "A"s Share.
For example Start- Run \\Network ID of A\Share Name - sometimes browsing through network places may not work - depending on which machine is the browse master, etc. Probably someone will give more exact accurate suggestions.

I almost forgot, depending on the hub you are using, check to make sure that the uplink port and the port next to it are not to be used exclusively, can get some funny results when that is occuring.

Hmmmmmmmmm....
Does not work ...
Can ping A and router but not B (We take fewer prisoners than Djenghis Khan)

To make the thingy totally insane.......watch this!!!! :)

Net view 192.168.1.30 gives: no result (PC B)
net view sigrids gives: no result (PC B)
net view gives: \\amdk6ii (PC A)
\\sigrids (PC B)

pinging 192.168.1.30 gives: no result sigrids (PC B)
pinging 192.168.1.50 gives: good result mine (PC A)
pinging 192.168.1. 1 gives: good result gateway (Router)

Remember that both PC's has fully functional connection to the internet through the HUB and the router.

File- and printersharing are turned on. Nothing shared except those folders that XP have named shared....

Internally TCP/IP-filtering is turned off on both PC's

Hope this makes it easyer for You all to help me out on this problem.

Sorry to be patronising - do you have a firewall up? Either 3rd party or XPs own?

No firewall at all..... (We take fewer prisoners than Djenghis Khan)
