I'm running out of ideas - please can anyone help?

When logging on to windows 2000 pro the LAN connection sets up (i.e. the connection is made) but cannot be accessed. The devices are all working properly but the PC connected to to server aren't able to access the info on the server. Any ideas I may have missed???

Can the client see the resources but not access them? Are there any error messages when trying to access resources? Double check your permissions and also if there is a network drive see if they can access any of those. Release and renew the IP and then try to ping by name, IP and loopback if no responses from any of those. Do you have login scripts that run? Did they run correctly? If your scripts did not run one thing you can do is disconnect the network cable completely and let it sit for 10 seconds. Then reseat the cable and restart the computer. Does that help at all? -Brad

Have you setup the forward and reverse lookups in DNS?
Is there a group policy running which is effecting your login script?
Are you using a profiles, to set desktops etc?
