We have a Norstar KSU 0x32 ICS (manufactured 4/99) and various software (that has never been implemented) such as the VoiceMail client and Minuet ACD.

My questions:

How do I attach the NAM to our network. Is it really as easy as running a straight-through patch cable to the switch on our network?

Once attached, do I would run IP Lite to change it's IP address?

Does the NAM have to "reboot" at this time? If so, what events will happen at this point?

Use IP Lite to change the IP in the NAM to a static IP obtained from your LAN administrator. After the IP is changed, boot the NAM and connect it to the network router. If you can ping the IP, install VM Manager and log on remotely

How exactly do I connect to the NAM to run IP Lite? (We have a FastRAD also.)

Can I connect any laptop to the system? Through the FastRAD or one of the COM ports on the NAM?

I'm the LAN Administrator, so getting the static IP is not a problem.

Please define "boot" the NAM? Will this be a prompt through an attached computer?

During this process, what will happen to incoming phone calls?

Thank you!

Never mind all the questions except the last one. I installed IP Lite on my PC and there is a very detailed readme file included after the install.

The only question I have left is, what happens to incoming calls during the configuration and "boot" process? Will this take down only the voicemail system or will all calls stop coming in?

Thanks.

While the NAM is offline, incoming calls will have to be answered manually if you are curently using AA to answer calls. Having the VM offline will not affect normal operation of the system.
Take the NAM offine using the shutdown procedure in the Access2 maintenance menu - Feature 915 Password 2223772.
Select SHutdown-immediate-and call processing will stop and the NAM will shutdown, indicated by decending tones after about a minute.
Follow the readme file to retrieve the IP from the NAM by staring the NAM with formatted diskette in the floppy drive. Load the new address onto the diskette using IP Lite and restart the NAM with the disk inserted. Successful change is indicated by acending tones.
Restart the NAM. Start call processing again. Connect the network cable to the NIC. Verify that the IP address is good by pinging the NAM. Connect using VM Manager
