Hello,
I have 2 machines (one win98 and one win 2k) and I am trying to network them together with a crossover cable.
I connect the two machines together but cannot get them to see each other. Does anyone know of an idiots guide to doing this on the net or if someone could post instructions it would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks

To make a crossover cable, assuming you are using 100base t, do the following pin layout. if you donot wish to make your own, you can simply buy one at any computer store.

*note: I cannot for the life of me remember the EXACT color order, but if you do it this way, it will work.

Connector one, from LEFT TO RIGHT

orange
orange/white

blue

green

brown

Connector 2 (at the other end of the cable)From left to right

You can can connect them directly but 10/100 cards are much faster and are very cheap.
