i have to recover files from an old server. tapes are still existing, so i performed a scanner -i to rebuild the media- and dataindex file. i encountered no difficulties: the mediaindex has the correct entries from the old tapes and also the dataindex has it's correct entries (indexes are actually browseable from the network user).

but then i tried to recover (directed recover) some specific files and the networker user claims: cannot find the volume needed.

so i performed a nsrck -L7 but this damaged the new index entries.

any ideas? would be very kind, thx

As no media reference is stored in the client file index, i
assume the media db is corrupt somehow.

- Try to salvage it
- Stop the services
- In the directory \nsr\mm\mmvolume6 , delete the
*_i* files
- Restart NetWorker

- Worst case, recover the media index with mmrecov.
