Networker User 7.2.2 Restore Error

Hi,

I have a Networker 7.2.2 User Problem. I try to restore data from a scheduled backup. I can choose the machines and the files and when I start the restore process I get the following message:

nsrexec: SYSTEM error: Logon failure: unknown user name or bad password.

I don't understand why it doesn't work. The scheduled backup works fine. I have given username and password for the client (Manage Clients->remote) and it works...

Hi,

without knowing what client we are talking about, I would suggest removing the username and password from the client definition. This is rarly used. Retry your restore operation after this.

'Username' & 'password' only must be set for clients where a root or system user does not extist (i.e. Netware & NDMP filers).

These values are NOT used for recoveries. However, only the user who has backed up the client data can recover that. So in this case you must login with the same account. If you want other users recover the data, you must pacle these accounts in the 'Remote access' list.

thanks I tried these things, but it still doesn't work.

The Client ist a Windows 2003 Server, with networker client 7.2.2, (sorry rif123) I forgot to mention...

Maybe someone has another idea?

- Remove username and password from client resource
- if the restore result is still error, use an admin acount on the client system
- check that this acount is listed in "Set Up Server/Administrator" from Networker administator
