I am getting an error when I try to backup a Linux client from a Solaris server
Error message on server and client is the same:
NetWorker: Cannot contact nsrexecd service on ebcsmtp, Service not available.
nsrexed is running on client
# ps -ef|grep nsr
root 14322 1 0 11:16 ? 00:00:00 nsrexecd -s rex
root 14323 14322 0 11:16 ? 00:00:00 nsrexecd -s rex
I do have the client pack for Linux on Networker
ClientPaks for LINUX/1
I get the error message on client when I try to start nwadmin or nwrecover

try this....

on the linux client kill nsnecxecd, then restart it with this command nsrexecd -D3 this will run the client in debug mode in the foreground.

On the server run a command line savegrp command.. like this

savegrp -vvv -c clientname groupname

watch both systems if they are conncting at all then you will se the communication between the two systems. if you see nothing happening on the client, then check dns or host tables to make sure the ip's are correct.

The problem is with rpcbind, when on the server I enter: rpcinfo -p client - I get this error:rpcinfo: can't contact portmapper: RPC: Rpcbind failure - RPC: Failed (unspecified error).

I get the same error on the linux client when I enter:
rpcinfo -p
