Folks,

I'll start off saying I'm not a UNIX guru, but I am dangerous. That said, I'm using Legato Networker Recovery Manager in my LAB ( For the 1st time) and I'm running nrmsetup and have have the following questions.

Here is my Problem:

# nrmsetup

----------------------------------------------------------------------

The nrmsetup script is used to configure a dedicated machine as a subnet
boot server for the NetWorker Recovery Manager (NRM). This will allow
machines to boot across the network in the event of a disaster, and
automates the complete recover of a machine using its NetWorker Backups.

This scripts requires:
1) Installation CDs for the Solaris OS version you wish to boot accross the network.
2) A copy of the NetWorker installation packages. (Either the installation CDs or an unpacked package from the web.) The version must be the same as your NetWorker server.
3) A copy of the NRM installation packages. (Either the installation CDs or an unpacked package from the web.)

------------------------------------------------------------

Do you wish to proceed? y

Enter the location of the Solaris installation CD. [/cdrom/cdrom0]? /cdrom/cdrom0/s1
"Non-standard installation layout. Cannot determine OS version."

The error in quotes is my issues, does anyone know what I'm doing wrong.

FYI.. yes I have the correct CD in the Drive.

Actually, you probably don't have the correct CD. As I recall, when I installed this, I put in the install disk, and this is not the one it wants, it actually wants a different disk. Unfortunately, I don't have my disks handy, but I believe it was software disk one of 2.

ptwrok,

I think I tried that CD too, but I'll do it again. If you remember the CD you used, I really appreciate it if you'd post it when you have time!!! Thanks in advance.

Found my notes, here it is:
Step 3. When prompted for the Solaris CD, for Solaris 8, the “Installation Disk” is not what it wanted, it wanted the Solaris 8 Software Disc, 1 0f 2.
Calculation of space took 1 min 30 sec

ok..I'm giving it a try...do I need to point to anywhere on the CD? Also I have really stupid question...how the hell to you eject a CD from a Unix box....

Is there a command?

-Jim Brev

You de man....it worked! But I though I tried that...guess not.

As I recall, there was a bug in the install script around ejecting tapes, not sure what version you have, but here are my notes on that baby:
After copying the NetWorker executables, the script remains in one of the
directories on the CD, which causes the umount/eject to fail. Only the last
swap (NetWorker CD -> NRM CD) has this problem.

The workaround is to copy the NRM packages onto the local drive, so that
NetWorker CD does not have to be ejected before the script completes.

FYI, to eject with unix, the command is:
eject, or eject -f
If you don't have your cdrom properly defined in env, you may have to put that in as well
eject cdrom0 or
eject /dev/dsk/c0t3d0s2 (of course, use your path)

Good luck and have fun
