Hi,

I'm running Networker 7.3.3 Server (Power Edition) on a Solaris9 (Sun v890) engine. Since we updated from Networker 7.1.3 two weeks ago, so far no "big" problems.

I just wonder how come that in NMC-GUI -> Configurations -> Regsitrations
I can find 10 well authorized Unix Cluster Client licenses.

By analyzing the nsrlic-output I see that 12 authorized Cluster Client Licenses are available and all of them are occupied. We in fact have 12 Cluster-nodes installed and all of them backing up there Datea fine.

Is there a way to list all available Cluster Client lizense-Keys on cmd-line? Actually I do not trust the NMC-GUI.
My 1st guess was that the Power-Edition does already include 2 Cluster Client Licenses but I was told that this is not true.

PED in fact includes 2 CCC in the license.

To check how NW uses the licenses for which computer, run "nsrlic -v".

1st:
Do You have any reference document where I can see what licenses are included in Networker 7.3.3 PED? My Support-Partner told me it was included in older versions but not in 7.3.3.

2nd:
"nsrlic -v" just show me the clients, usind those cluster licenses, I could not see the associated Cluster-license-keys, belonging to the clients.

Actually, nsrlic could answer both questions.

You may for instance install the software on another host and just add the base (power edition) enabler. You should then see that you have 2 CCCs "available".

If you provide the output, i could explain it a bit further.

I'm afraid I could not post the total nsrlic-output. But I see in the UNIX-Cluster-Part:

UNIX CLUSTER CLIENT LICENSES
Available: 12
Used: 12
Remaining: 0
Connected Clients: host1, host2,...up to host 12

I see no hint pointing that 2 of the 12 Licenses are included in the power-Edition.
What part are You looking for?

Well, if you have 12 used cluster clients but you only bought 10 extra CCCs, where do you expect that the 2 additional licenses come from?

Also, you should see this from the header of the output. Here is an example which does not reflect your scenario - actually, it shows an evaluation mode:

C:\>nsrlic -v
connecting to hostname ...
12116:nsrlic: License Summary:
12117:nsrlic: Available: sv=10, ws=0, clu=10, clu_nt=10, clu_unix=10, clu_linux=10, ndmp=32767
12118:nsrlic: Borrowed: sv_borrowed=0, clu_borrowed_nt=0, clu_borrowed_unix=0, clu_borrowed_linux=0
12119:nsrlic: Remaining: sv=10, ws=0, clu=10, clu_nt=10, clu_unix=10, clu_linux=10, ndmp=32767
12128:nsrlic: NetWorker Module for Oracle 7, Windows Client/1: Available=1, Remaining=1, Used=0
12128:nsrlic: NetWorker Module for Oracle 7, Unix Client/1: Available=1, Remaining=1, Used=0
......

Yes, You're right, but still the question is where the hack could I see -inside Networker- that 10 of the 12 licenses are additionally bought and 2 licenses are included in the Power-Edition?
What else licenses are included?

I would like to search for a whitepaper or what ever inside EMC's Powerlink -if I could- but the F...ing Powerlink is either f...ing slowly or down 4 service. I could not use it :-(

Unfortunately, i do not know such document.

The only reference i could find is from the Student Guide for the NetWorker 7.x Advanced Administration course where it reads clearly: "Power Edition comes with two client cluster licenses, allowing you to cluster a NetWorker server."

You can test the availability of these licenses as mentioned on another system.

Thank's 605,
I think this might be enough. I'm now more then sure that my Supporter was wrong, telling me this additional 2 licenses have just been part of previous PED-Versions.
Case closed.

Kind Regards spaceball
