Hi,

iam already testing with the final 7.2 Client for NEtware but i have 2 Problems:

1. When i browse through a volume and select then a directory to "mark" it takes 3 1/2 hours instead of 7 seconds with 4.22e Client

2. When i then start the rtestore, it will never start but also didnt bring any error message.

tested on :

Netware 6.5 SP3 with TSAUP18

Does anybody else had luck with this ?

Andreas

Hi All,

I have install netware 7.2 on netware 6.5 sp3 and it will not load it keeps crashing the netware server

when it tries to load nsrexecd.

I must be missing something

1 installed 7.2
2 load smsut
3 load tsafs
4 search add sys:\nsr\bin
5 networkr

then the server crashes

any ideas please

Maurice

Hi Maurice,

why do you didnt use the install stool ?

2 Ways possible:

1. Copyclientpk directory to server and load out of that cpinst.nlm

2. Use the Windows Setup tool to remotly install the 7.2 client

You MUST use TSAUP18 from Novell !

Andreas

Hi Andreas,

Yes i installed using the windows install

Try to manually load the software. There was an error with the previous NW client on Netware 6.5/SP3: It did not load because of a duplicate variable name.

Hi All

I have the same browse performance issue with 7.2 client for NetWare. It takes ages to reach the restore destination in the index.
We have a case open about this issue and i'll inform when things go ahead...

Cheers Till

Hi Till,

you can reference to my case too Nr: 3163438

Hi Novelli

Thanks, the page was removed but we have the patch mentioned.
This has not made the situation any better. I guess we have a bug here because I know a lot of users have the same problem so all we can do is to wait for a fix...

Till

Hi Till,

that was the last hint i got from legato support on friday eavening but didnt tryed it till now myselv.
Bug is already opend.

What i will try add., is to install NW 6.5 Sp4 tomorrow on my test system to see if there is any change. I will also try it on a Netware 6.0 test System.

I keep you up to date

Cheers
Andreas

Hi,

i tryed it today with a NEtware 6.5 Server + SP4

Same result.

Selection of files takes nearly forever, when they are, after hours, selected, restore never starts

Hi Andreas

Yes, and it is the same result with lower versions of NetWare. I have tested NetWare 6.0 as well and 6.5 with SP1 and SP2. Meanwhile I think the index size causes the problem (here ~2,5 GByte on some clients). If you have a small index it rocks..

Cheers Till

Hi Till,

interesting, i will test it now also with a small one.

Our main Fileservers having indexes between 3 and 8 GB !

Andreas

Hi Till,
wichj Networker Version do you use ? We have 7.2.1 and i dit just some tests of restores with the 4.22e client and as i remember from the 7.2.0 Version, the selection of fiels was mcuh (4-6 times) faster then now.

Maybe the problem , with the 7.2 Client, has also to do with this ?

Maybe there is a speed bug in 7.2.1 for browsing the catalog ?

Andreas

Hi Andreas

I use Server ver. 7.1.3 on Win2k3. And according to support a update to 7.2.x won't help us because 7.1.3 is the later version anyway [ponder]. I guess it is some bug in the index access component or whatever because we have similar index sizes on other operating systems but browsing there is as fast as usual..

Cheers Till

Hi Till,

7.1.3 was newer then 7.2, but 7.2.1 is now newer then 7.1.3 *lol*

I had now a 1 1/2 webex session with Legato support....they believe me now, it is a bug, but the engeneer was in a Meeting and had no time...i hope i will get a feedback till tomorrow.

Andreas

Hi Andreas

Me too as we have a case open too. Our support has tested my issue in the lab so I hope for a bugfix soon.

Cheers Till

Hi,

here are the latest news:

1. On a brand new server the Client 7.2 is working
2. When a 4.22 client was on that system i can not authenticate after the upgrade to 7.2
3. When Hyperthreading on a Dell 1850 is on, the server abends after 350 GB of Backuped data, reproduceble, looks like a code bug in Networker für Multithreading.
On a Dell 1750 the Backup stocks but no abend happens

Iam testing further.
