Dear all,

A few days ago we install Networker 7.0 on our server.

Every group finish well.

We've got only a problem to save exchange mailbox.

Here is the error message :

07/16/03 22:48:02 savegrp: group GHEBOExchange aborted.

07/16/03 22:48:02 savegrp: error, cannot open new progress file

07/16/03 22:48:02 savegrp: Failed to update server, aborting Savegroup.

07/16/03 22:48:02 nsrd: savegroup alert: GHEBOExchange aborted, total 1 client(s), 0 Hostname(s) Unresolved, 0 Failed, 1 Succeeded.

07/16/03 22:48:02 nsrd: runq: NSR group GHEBOExchange exited with return code 1.

Please could you help me to fix this problem???

Regards

This message does not mean much. Usually NW aborts a save
set when it times out (does not send date after 30 mins).
Most obvious this is due to a "network related error".

But do you use the exchange module at all to do hot EXCH
db backups ?

We use exchange module 2.0-005.

Before we install networker 7, the exchange backup (MSEXCH:MB) works.

Here is the oser error message

7/16/03 22:43:44 nsrd: savegroup info: starting GHEBOExchange (with 1 client(s))
07/16/03 22:43:44 savegrp: error, cannot open new progress file
07/16/03 22:43:44 savegrp: Failed to update server, aborting Savegroup.

Networker client 7 is setup on the exchange server

Judging by the message you posted, I don't think the problem is with the backup itself. When the savegroup aborted,it said "GHEBOExchange aborted, total 1 client(s), 0 Hostname(s) Unresolved, 0 Failed, 1 Succeeded." It's the "1 succeeded" part that jumps out at me--are you sure that the client is failing? It sounds to me like the backup is completing, but there is a disconnect when the client tries to send a message back to the server upon completion.

Try the following:

When an Exchange backup is initiated the following registry key is created:

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\System\CurrentControlSet\Services\MSExchangeDS or MSExchangeIS\Restore in Progress

This key is used to help prevent the Exchange databases from going into an inconsistent state during backups.

If this key is left in the registry all backups will fail until it is removed.

For more information on this registry key please review Microsoft Technet article Q200941.

I delete the group and i create it again... The savegrp still doesn't work but the error message is more exhaustive.

Unfortunately, i am not a database specialist. However, i
don't think any more that this problem is backup related at
all.

Search in Microsoft's Knowledgebase for "80040111" and you
will find a lot if docs in there.

Good luck.

Have the same problem with NW7 and Exchange 2000 Cluster NW Module 3.1

I found the problem.

I forgot to put the account used by our exchange server in the client on the networker client.

Just have to edit the client and type in the field "remote user" and "password.

Thanks for all

cyberted, I've got the exact same problem as you listed in your post. Did you ever find a way around it? I've tried the remote user id and password fields but it didn't help things.

Regards,
Kevin

Hi knikiforuk,

I fixed the problem with the Networker Exchange Module 3.1.82. Works fine.

Bye
