hi networkers,

the networker admin guide for 6.1.2 describes, that it's now possible to use 2 different browse policies for 1 saveset, if it's saved with 2 different groups.
we created 1 group for daily backups (skip incr incr incr incr incr full), 1 for a monthly full backup (full on 1st of month). the daily backup cycle should be browsable for 1 week and the monthly backup cycle for 1 year.
mminfo -p shows the correct date, when browse and retention policy will end.
we started this concept in august 2002.
after our monthly full backup on 1st of october, all older file versions were removed from the online index, also the monthly full of september.
do you have any ideas, what went wrong?
thanks for any hints!
cheers,
xandra

I think there are two ways to do this.

Already backup a filesystem and you want to change the retention/browse time. Use the nsrmm command, you need to know the savesetid (ssid).

E.g.
nsrmm -S ssid -w browse -e retention

Alternatively

The backups themselves can be assigned retention and browse period

savegrp -w browse -e retention groupname

Anybody know why when doing a backup and assigning the retention as "forever" Networker complains
the NetWorker Archive Modules/NSR" is not properly enabled.
