Hi,

Using Networker 5.1 on many servers but one of them experience some problems (techdialog from Legato didn't help) :

When starting the server nsrd start but hangs immediately.

Here is an abstract of the deamon.log :
<date> <time> nsrd: server notice: started
<date> <time> nsrmmdbd: A copy of this process is already running!
<date> <time> nsrd: unable to start nsrmmdbd
<date> <time> nsrd: shutting down
<date> <time> nsrd: successful shutdown

Any idea ?
Thanks
Franck

Hi,

We had something like this a while ago on our server running v6.1 on NT. In our case this happend when the nsrd service had crasched and we tried to restart the service. But since the childprocess(nsrmmdbd) of nsrd was still running, nsrd refused to start. Rebooting the server solved the problem. (Perhaps only terminating the nsrmmdbd process could resolve this too). However, I'm fairly new to Networker so perhaps someone more experienced have some better info regarding this problem...

A small correction.
Our server was running 6.0.2, not 6.1.

Thanks, your absolutely right ! But nsrd did hang a first time. Anyway, actually it works....
Note :
To restart the networker services without reeboting the server you might kill all process running begining with nsr
