My Rls 5.5 CS1000M MG CPPIV recently upgraded from Rls.4 CPPII

loses time regularly every say 2 weeks around 2 minutes which I guess seems to be common for this Release on previoius posts

I have Element Managers leader and follower and was wondering if you could give me some assistance by applying NTP timing from the SigServer/Network ?

I can select Date and Time to 'Configure' it then asks me for Primary and Secondary Server IP addresses/Key ID/Private Key - Not sure here ?

Am I carrying this out correctly, any pointers would be greatly appreciated Guys

Cheers!!

Hi SL1M1

I have had to make these changes on several systems but I'm afraid I'm old school and prefer to do things on the command line.
Below is a step by step on how to set the NTP and ZDST, which you may require, from the command line

This checks the time against the NTP Server every 15 mins and updates if required. This connects to the NTP server without a login so it will display a message saying the the connection was insecure.

NTP
LD 117
Ping xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx To confirm that the CS can see the NTP Server xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx = IP address of NTP Server
**** Note **** if you can not ping the NTP Server from the Call Server you will need change the connection to be via the Signaling Server using command chg ntp mode ss

prt ntp Display Current NTP configuration
chg ntp ip xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx Set the location of the NTP server in the NTP config. xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx = NTP Server IP Address
enl ntp Enable the NTP config
sync ntp man Manually action the NTP update to confirm that it works. Answer Y to the request to update the time
sync ntp background Set the NTP software to update the clock from the NTP server automatically.
prt ntp Check configuration

You will not be able to change the time on the system without stopping the background sync and disabling the NTP. So it is important you set Daylight Savings time for you IP zones, if required.

ZDST This can not be setup for VTRK zones
LD117
prt zdst Display the Current Zone Daylight Savings Time configuration
chg zdst xxx yes 3 5 1 1 10 5 1 2 Change the Daylight Savings Time configuration. xxx = Zone Number

(UK Settings) 3 = Start Month, 5 = Start Week, 1 = Start Day, 1 = Start Hour, 10 = End Month, 5 = End Week, 1 = End Day, 2 = End Hour. These entries require a space between each one. 5 is used for week number as it represents the last week of the month no matter how many weeks in the month. Day 1 is used as Nortel number day Sunday to Saturday.

stat zbr Display the current Zone Behaviour configuration
enl zbr xxx tim Enable Daylight Saving Time Zone Behaviour for Zone xxx
prt zdst Check configuration
stat zbr Check configuration

I hope this Helps

Hey CS1Ker, not only will your reply to this post be very beneficial to me once I have an NTP/Source/IPAddress available which I still await from the Networking Guys, It will I guess be viewed by many more of our colleagues here and for that I Thank You !!

I am also from old school though...I've adjusted the timer by its +/- increment in (LD 2) which is pretty well keeping up now but have asked the Switchboard Ops to keep an eye on the networked PC times and adjust on the S/BD every 3 days if required by using the Display and SystemTime Keys on the back up manual 2250

Cheers!!
