Network speed balancing

Hi,

In 2000 server there was a service where you could set set the network load limit for each user or group. I can't remember what it was called, but is there an equivalent for sbs?

My users are connecting via wifi, and when one or more of them download large files, they suck all the bandwidth from the other users...

Can any one suggest a service or app?

Just remembered the name: QoS, but I couldn't find it on the install options (Components > Net. Services).

Does anyone know where its gone? or if it has an equivalent?

QoS is a service that can be installed on the Network Interfaces themselves. In Network Connections open the properties of the NIC and then select Install > Service.

Thanks also for your link, I am using an external wifi router that manages wireless load, with two access points and they are working fine. Its the share of the internet that I've been having problems with.

I have found the QoS in the Connection Properties and the settings in group policy...

but, I have a network service that I built that wont work when I switch QoS on the server. I will ask the vb.net guys.

I'm thinking that its because the app isn't using a user in an AD group (Local Machine), does anyone know how to add this user to AD? or should I config the app to use a AD user?

There's no such thing as a local user if the app is running on your Small Business Server because it's a Domain Controller. Therefore all users are domain users.

I did have that problem with 2000 server and asp... No ASPNET user on a domain controller.

I think i know what I need to do:

Create a user object in AD, give it all the group access that my Service needs (domain user, admin...), create a GP for QoS settings, and remove remote login or am I thinking non-Domain Controller again?.
Then put the details of the user into the "Log On" page of the Service's properties.
