Have a small LAN at one of the lease offices and have a problem with a PC not able to print to a printer attached to one of the other computers. I went into my network neighborhood and right click the printer and chose properties and received the following message "Device settings canot be displayed. The driver for the specified printer is not installed, only the spooler properites will be displayed". I installed the printer drivers into that PC and still got the same message. I tried to print a test page but received the following error "Test page failed to print. Would you like to view the print trouble shooter for assistance?". I went as far as reformatting the hard drive and reinstalling NT 4.0 workstation but get the same problems. I also hooked up the printer directly to the PC but get the same problem. Does anyone have a suggestion?

do you hav the right printer driver?Check it first and try re-installing it to the printer server and client. Also, check the cables attached to the computers.

Checked that and the connections are good and i'm using the same drivers.

Sharing from a new system? XP Home on one PC?

Need to change a bunch of settings before printer will share successfully on XP.

If everything is NT4, did you inadvertently get a WDM driver for the printer? Most WDM drivers will not work on NT4. They will work on 2000, and on 98se with a patch, but NT4 doesn't like them much. And BTW, once you load a WDM driver on NT4, it's almost impossible to get rid of it. Uninstall says it works, but it doesn't.

Thanks you guys for your help. It ended up being my AMSI software causing all the problems! It's a dos based program. After i went through and did a repair of the program and changed the print settings on it the 32 bit and 16 bit applications were printing again!
