I just passed A+ today (I don't know what I was so worried about), and now I have my sights on either Network+ or Server+ so I can go on to MCSA. Any ideas as to which is better? Any good books to prepare with (I hear this Mike Meyers guy is the man. What do you think?)

Thanks

As far as books go, I have found the Exam Cram series extremely valuable. Also have been forced to watch Mike Myers for the A+ through college courses. He gets the point across, but getting there is like watching midget wrestling... it's kinda funny but your embarrassed to be seen watching it.

If you are fairly new to IT, then I would suggest the Network+ rather than Server+. The Network+ is geared toward entry-level. The Server+ is aimed at the tech with at least 2 years SERVER experience. Server+ is very experience-oriented. A lot of scenerio questions. It appears to have about a 50% pass rate. It's tough.

Network+ is very doable with plenty of study materials available.

Good Luck!

This previous August, I had passed my CCNA with a 949. I was so pumped up from my results, I decided to get the Network+. Two weeks later, I was N+ certified.

To prepare for the N+ exam, I used Sybex's book by David Groth, ISBN: 0-7821-4014-9. I felt that it was adequate at getting me prepared for the exam.

If you're wondering why I would bother getting N+, after already achieving the CCNA certification, the reason is this. Whereas Cisco's CCNA cert stresses that you know how to configure and troubleshoot their routers and switches, the Network+ is really vendor neutral and tests your ability to manage and troubleshoot LANs and such. Next fall, I'll start studying for CCNP. :)
