I have a notebook which is used to connect to a NT4 network, when I boot the computer it does not prompt me for a user name and password to log on to the network. It starts up without logging onto the network. I have to go to start menu, then log off and then it allows me to log onto the network.

Go to Control Panel/Network/Configuration, and select 'Client For MS Networks' in the 'Primary Network Logon' box.

There have been a number of other posts with this problem (can't remember if anyone solved it). One suggestion was to do with time taken to pick up IP address (when you first logon, machine hasn't got one so doesn't think its on network... logs straight into windows. Then by the time you've logged out, it has one, and so gives you network logon screen. Don't know how true or not this is).

I don't know if it will help, but have a look at both of these FAQ's:

faq615-1514
faq615-1553

Hopefully you'll find an answer somewhere...
