I have been successfully running Paradox 5 & 9 on Windows '98SE. Our new computers come with XP Pro. I can not get Paradox 9 to access the data file stored on the network. I get two error messages:

1. Network initializatin failed (followed by complete path) Cannot access network lock file.

2. Could not initialize BDE: Network initialization failed. File = pdoxusrs.net.

I have configured the BDE for file sharing and set the path to the data file.

I have tried mapping to different drives but with the same result.

The original files are from Paradox 5 and I configured the BDE for that choice also.

Any help would be appreciated. I'm out of ideas at this point.

Are you running a Netware client? If so, check your client version number. If it's 4.83 you need to patch it.

Other than that, welcome to XP (AKA: the ninth circle of hell)!

I do have a Novell network running 4.1.1 and that is indeed the client that I am using. What patch do I need and where do I obtain it?

Jim

I replied to Jim privately and sent him the patch. It can also be obtained from the Novell web site.
