I have a user (actually two which really makes it weird) . . . both with Compaq DeskPro EN's running the stock NIC, each exhibiting the same problem. Both machines are running W2K and all the latest updates, etc....
Neither machine seems able to connect to our network (but had no problem on Friday). Per "Device Manager", the cards are recongnized and supposedly working, but when you take a look on the back of the card, they are both "dark" (no status lights at all.
I have tried switching data ports, cables, updated the drivers and even tried swapping with a new Intel PRO/100 M Desktop Adapter (and fresh set of drivers), but no matter what I do, I get that annoying "Network Cable Unplugged" message from the tray icon and even the new card is dark.
Anyone have any clues on this for me. It is baffling.
Thanks.
