When I right click my computer and go to properties (W2K pro)my "Network Identification Tab" is no longer there. Anyone know where it went and how I get it back?
The network identification tab resides in "system". This tab contains machinename and domain. If you are looking for the rest of your network setting right click network neighborhood and choose properties. You can also get to network identification by clicking the advanced tab once the properties come up.
I don't have the TAB. That is my problem . I understand how to find network settings etc.....Somehow my "Network Identification" tab has disappeared.
Yep, I'm afraid it,s not that simple. I have checked MS Knowledge Base also. I have been able to change the name with a reg hack but I'd like to have my tab back. I figure it is something simple but I just can't figure it out.
Is the system on any type of network IE.. DUN (Dial up Networking) VIA a Modem, or Network VIA a Network Interface Card? James Collins

Yep, on cable modem (also still has DUN set up)and PtoP network. That's how I figured it was missing.I had to change the computer name for cable company and said Ok no prob, WHERE THE HECK DID MY NETWORK ID TAB GO? I am at a loss.
I probably haven't looked for that tab since before SP1 and SP2 is installed. But I don't think those are the problem as other machines loaded with the same download are all OK.
It may be repair time.
I have never run into that problem nor have I found any info on it. Repair the system is the only thing I can think of. Sorry for the Lack of help. James Collins
