Network Crash when using Ghost

hi, we're using Ghost to upgrade a bunch of workstations across the LAN with XP images. Every time we do this the LAN crashes and all devices lose connections. Seems like some sort of storm occurring but i cant see why, anyone else experienced this...?

Are you using hubs? have you set it to multicast? When I did multiple ghosts at the same time we did have the same issues but that was because we were doing it via multicast... which of course meant everyone got the packets. I then isolated the lan segment to do the ghosting instead.

Try setting up a vlan if you can to see if that resolves it.

we're using switches but the ghost server and devices being imaged are hanging off different switches. we're also multicasting at present as we want to image more than one device at a time. can we only image one machine at a time with unicasting?

Probably not related, but i've had a similar problem when using directed broadcasts on the same vlan where VOIP phones are in use. Occaisionally, traffic peaks would cause the ghostcast server to drop its connection and all the VOIP phones would reset!
This only ever happened when using ghostcast to ghost 5 or more concurrent systems.
