I am running a LAN consisting of 4 PC's.
One running Windows 2K Pro, Two running WinMe, and One running Win98.
I sometimes need to restart after software installations etc., and would like to send a network (console) message informing client computers/operators that the server (Win2K box) will be restarting in X minutes and to save files etc.
Does anybody know what to use on the WinX clients to receive Win2K network (console) messages?
Your assistance would be greatly appreciated!

Thanks very much,

Brett

If the winpopup.exe service is running on the clients, you use the "net send" command. At a command prompt on the server type "net send /?" for options.

If everything seems to be going well: you don't have enough information.......

Thanks Jeff,
'Works like a charm.
It would be nice if WinPopup was tucked away into the system tray. I guess I can't have everything!

Cheerz...

PerD,

Thanks for the information, but...
I have already d'loaded a freebie program called "TrayPopup" from Tiny footprint at 159Kb! No installation required. Just unzip & run. Hides in the tray. :)
Works great on the WinX clients while using the console on Windows 2k.

Best regards,

Brett
