hi,
i keep getting "network connection timed out(41)" error during my backups. How do i go about finding what is the cause of this problem?
thanks

Thats a very big question. First step you have to confirm that the two servers can comunicate in the real world outside of NB. Then you will have to look at your set up within NB to ensure names, address resolution and a whole host of settings are correct. There is workthrough on Network conectivity on the manuals.

lenski,
which manual are you refering to?

hi
You may confirm whether both master & client can comunicate by using the below UNIX command at server side
telnet <client name> bpcd

lenski,
can you be more specific?

kendas -- What type of backup are you receiving statu 41.

Usually a status 41 is the error cause by a time out value that need to be increased.

Located in the Universal Settings tab-- in the Host properites. "Client Read Timeout" setting to 144000.

Hi 1781,

Why it have to be 144000, is this your example only?
I faced status 41 too but increasing to 600 ,the job still failed.

The 144000 is not an example. All of my backup with large amount of database and file level backups have 144000. You have to figure out the backup time and restore time .

Some of the timeout settings don't make sense. For example we have to use a time out of 30 minutes to make some work. It's not that NB needs 30 minutes to make the conection and it never takes that long. But if the figure is not large enough we just get a failure.
