I was running 3 machines through one cablemodem using an ethernet switch, each having an IP address without DHCP. This is one PC and 2 Sun Ultra 1's.

For some reason I am now unable to get the Sun machines' internet connections working (the PC is fine). I can ping back and forth between the PC and either of the 2 Sun machines, but the Sun machines cannot get out to the internet.

I changed the cablemodem, but I have also re-tested with the previous cablemodem and the problem persists. I am completely stuck.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I seem to have made some progress here. I still have a question however. On the @home cable network, ip addresses will often resolve to names in the following way:

24.111.45.45 => d111-45-45.home.myisp.com

In setting up Solaris, what is the correct way to specify host name? Should the host be d111-45-45 and the domain home.myisp.com, or d111-45-45.home and domain myisp.com ?? Or use the full hostname?

In the past I have used the full hostname and everything after the first "." as the domain. Seemed to work fine but I don't know if it's really correct.
