Hi all,

The past few times I've used Manager over our network, I get two errors.

First: "Manager is configured for secure communication. Do you wish to proceed with unsecure communication for this system?"

Clicking yes and waiting brings another error:

"Network error - Failed to communicate with IP Office"

Interestingly, I'm open System Status and connect without issue using the same credentials. Any help would be appreciated.

For what it's worth, it responds to ping, and nothing is using its IP address. I've fixed it in the past by holding in the AUX button in the back to restart it during off hours. After I do that, it will work fine for a few days, never when I need to actually get in and add users though.

Do you have manager set to find IP office by DNS?

HeatherTECH.net | ACSS - SME | AIPS - IPO

I do, and it finds it. When I connect and put in the Admin login, those errors pop up after a minute or so.

I have this too on a customer's site, while another computer is fine. Restarting your computer will fix it temporarily.
Run a -t ping trace to the IPO after PC reboot and watch it drop in and out on the network, meanwhile 60 IP handsets are fine.

It's probably IP routing. Make your PC Ip address in the same range as the IPO.

this is almost always a routing issue. It will connect via ARP for a short while, and when ARP refreshes, it will lose it's ARP-determined route to the IPO.

I've had this issue even when the IPO is on the same subnet and there is no routing. If I retry, most times it'll go through. Never used to happen, but really starting noticing it in R9.

Same problem here. Customer with 5 IPO SCN, just moved an IPO to another WAN location, changed IP and route, and cannot connect via Manager from the VMPro server located at main site. System Status works fine! I went to the site and connected my laptop with Manager 9.0.5.0 972 via LAN with no problem. Went to VMPro server site, connected laptop to same switch as VMPro server and connects just fine.

I upgraded Manager from 10.1.85 to 10.1.91, upgraded Java and rebooted server; didn't help.

It has to be something with the VMPro server. Any thoughts?

Sometimes restarting the VMPro service helps.
It sounds odd but it really helps sometimes.
I have also seen this when i gave my pc a wrong default gateway.

BAZINGA!

I'm not insane, my mother had me tested!
