Hi,

I am running a small home network with 2x win98se machines and one NTbox set up as a stand alone server - my problem is that I seem to be getting loads of collisions - detected by the crash led on my hub and running the network monitor on the ntbox.

Any ideas anyone??

"loads of collisions" if you have an ethernet hub, and are running half duplex, 10% collisions is pretty normal for ethernet.

full duplex ethernet in a switch will have fewer collisions, but ethernet always has some collisions, that is how it is designed. "late collisions" are always bad. I love everyone til they prove otherwise, sadly some prove otherwise SO quickly

Be sure both nic's are at half duplex. Hubs do not support full
duplex, and a duplex mismatch will produce exactly what you
describe.
