Heya All,

in another thread I mention my problem connecting to my network drives. Well because of that I am also having a problem every time something tries to access the network.

Just as a for instance, using my computer I try to click on a network drive. About 10 minutes later, after failing to connect I get a dialog asking me to log in.

Surely only 30 seconds max should be need to determine there is something wrong and should return a failure. I could still continue working until I get this problem sorted out but these random 10+ min long session of things trying to hit the network are driving me crazy.

So what I'm hoping to find is a setting which dictates how long a a process will try to access the setting (ConnectionTimeout) or something similar

Thanks,
Steve

Thanks linney but the initial problem I have is that I can no longer access my network drive at all. I can ping the server, I can see the drive from other PC's, I just can't see the drives me my main work pc. I had recently ran a series of windows updates on my 2003 server but since other pc can still see it, I assume it something on this PC. Also if I log in to my PC as opposed to the domain, I can then see the server drive.

This is a home system tho so no IT department or network admin to get it sorted for me. Just me :-(

Thanks

Clarify what you have at home, is the "my 2003 server" at home also, or at the work place. Did you run updates on the work Domain server? Just trying to understand where all these machine are (office or home)?

Have you checked the Event Viewer logs, including the Security logs?

Can you see the Network drive from your XP machine, Domain User Login, from "Safe Mode With Networking"?
