WE have a problem a couple of pcs are slowing down to a snails pace things like right clicking takes ages for the menu to appear if you go anywhere near my computer it takes ages for it to appear i finally tracked the problem down to network card log in locally to the machine these problems disappear i tried upgrading to windows XP same problem persists it is happening two or 3 machines but other machines with the same spec are working fine any ideas

Network card or the wires ? Many times a poor wire will kill a PC's or and entire network's performance. LED wire testers are useless for testing beyond continuity. Do you have good network cards, Intel cards are one of the best.

For a quick, if not cumbersome wire test, move an offending machine to a connection location which has no problem.
