I'm looking for recommendations on a tester that I can get for $1500 or less. I have been looking at the Fluke nettool inline tester and would like to get the pro version but the extra $500 just isn't going to happen. Does anyone have any recommendations for a similar product by a different manufacturer?

Thanks

Fluke now owns Microtest.

While the Nettool can do wire tests it is really designed to assist in active network testing. I don't think anyone else has a tester like it.

For most of the work discussed in this forum the Fluke (formerly Microtest) Microscanner or Microscanner Pro is a better choice. Do a search in the forum for microscanner and another search for nettool and you will get an idea of their applications.

Here is a link to a discussion of Microscanners:

If you need a quality network analyzer and money is an issue, (as it is everywhere these days), might I suggest purchasing a used unit from a test equipment rental office.

We purchased a used Microtest scanner that was a previous rental. We got a short warranty on the unit, (30 days I think), and it has served us well since.

The larger rental companies will usually have a great selection, and will back up their sales with support.
