Network cabeling interference with cable TV 2

I am running a new network with 8 ports in a residence. Some of the wiring is most convenient run along side of cable TV wire from the basement to attic. QUESTION: Is there any problem with interence on the cable TV from the network cable?

We haven't seen any such issues at home with our Cable Network running next to the 100BaseT stuff for our PDC, but that isn't to say that shielding is not so good on your Cable TV link and its emmitting high signals, get the cable guys to come in and check it out, it takes 10 mins with a little box of theirs.

In theory, the sheilding on the CATV cable should protect from cross-talk/interference. My tendency would be to give it a go. If some interference is noticed, look for bad ends or damaged coax.

If you are worried, use STP (Shielded Twisted Pair) instead of UTP, this will catch a lot of additional interference.
You haven't specified the distribution of stations between attic and basement, but if there is only one and your hub has either a MII-port (the 100Base-version of the classis AUI/DIX-port) or space for slide-in module, it might be optimal to go for a fibre-solution, in which case interference would be non-existent. That would be an expensive solution, but give a good start for future expansion.

It is possible for satellite antenna lead in to interfere considering that there is typically 13 to 18 v.d.c. present.
