Network Associates GroupShield Exchange On-line Update failed to stop

Hi,

I am facing a strange kind of a problem since the day I have installed Sonicfirewall on my NT server 4.0 machine. Earlier, Groupsheild exchange 4.5 was working fine and was scanning all e-mails of virus on the exchange server 5.5 before passing them on to users mailboxes.

Since the day I have set up my firewall. No e-mails are getting scanned for the virus and all the error messages in log say

"Network Associates GroupShield Exchange On-line Update failed to stop the scanner "

the update service failed to update the .dat files

couldnt update drivers - the av engine couldnt be stopped

Please can anyone help urgently !!!

Check the firewall if its not allowing the updates (presumably via FTP). You'll need to allow ports 20 & 21 through.

The port 21 for FTP is open. Still I am getting this error. Wonder why ??

HI, it seems to be a problem related to the scan engine, it's migrating to GSE 5.0 SP1 out of question? Try to execute the latest SuperDAT with the /F parameter. it will force the installation. I've seen that error message but in VirusScan v4.5.1 SP1.

you should upgrade to groupshield 5.0sp2. this resolves this issue and many others.
