netware errno9C Failed to open directory

Running Arcserve 6.61 on NT, backing up Netware 5.1. Getting random &quot;Failed to Open Directory <gives path> errno=1. Netware Errono=9c.

Doing a spot check shows that some of the directories don't exist, and some do. The servers being backed up have recently been patched with Netware sp3 plus add-on patches. Was getting some of these errors previously, but not as many as since the patches.

Happening on both NSS and regular volumes, apparently randomly. Does anyone have any insight into this error?

When you are configuring your backup job, you need to ensure that you select the whole volume rather than the directories underneath the volume. I suggest the reason for your issue is because the directories the backup job cannot find have been deleted since the job was created??

As a result, you are running the risk that directories/files created since the backup job was configured may not get backed up.

When configuring your job, ensure that the green square is selected on the volume, and when selected is fully green and not half green. -----------------------------------------------------

Hi, Thanks for your suggestion. I did redo all the jobs, selecting at the 'top' still getting the errors. Both Novell and CA Arcserve suggest doing a volume rebuild on NSS volumes, so we are scheduling for off-hours since they have to be dismounted for the rebuild. Also, latest patches. We just put up the Novell tsa5up7//5x patch, had some problems with backup, but appeared to clear up after unloading and reloading agent.
