the erroron netware server with nwagent console:
SERVER-5.0-4631 [nmID=1001C]
WARNING! Server XXX experienced a critical Error...
& nwagent gets suspended by netware as the couse of trouble.

This happens on the second the arcserve starts to estimate backup size on the root of SYS: volume & arcserve job hangs with info on the job window that it is estimating. I disabled estimate on job properties & unselected all the files from SYS: root but it still wants to estimate & crashes. not loading OFA agent did not make any difference.

I use Arcserve2k SP3 (all versions have done this I think)

any ideas ?

I think im gonna try installing fresh netware 5.1 with no SP's.

Also make sure you have the latest (and correct version of) SMDR and TSA. Too many times I have seem Novell screw up on these 2 nlms and cause the server to abend.

it seems to be a compatibility problem with NW5.1 SP3. I tried nw5.1 with no SP's & everything worked.

Can smb point me to right versions of SMDR & TSA ?
As ppl tell me going back to 5.1 is no option, I have to make this work with NW5.1 SP3 ... I hope the needed versions of SMDR & TAS work with SP3.

When you install SP3, it upgrades SMDR.NLM and TSA500.NLM. Try unloading and renaming both modules, copying the backups made during your Service Pack install into their correct locations, and running them (in other words, downgrade to the older versions of the NLMs). -----------------------------------------------------
