I'm having a problem with Netware 6 SP2. It seems that some of the folders on volume(s) become inaccessable. If access is attempted the workstation hangs and the user is disconnected from the tree. They only way to get back in is a hard reset of the workstation.

If the server is re-booted the folders become accessable again. Then after a while the same thing happens. The folders in question are random (not the same each time)

I've got the latest Novell client installed and have had no problems in the past with Netware 6.

Server: Novell Netware SP2
Workstaion: Windows XP Pro with Novell Client 4.9

Server has been fine for over a year, problem just started a month ago. Server S/W or H/W not been changed.

Any Ideas?

We had a problem that fits your description w/ NW6 and Win2k clients. We disabled "directory quotas" on the applicable volumes and it seemed to cure it.

Also of note, if a restart of the server is impractical and the contents of the folder must be available, we could use Startx at the console to rename the effected folder, and then rename it back so that a client could get at the data.

Thanks!!

I'll look into the quotas for effected parts.

On some further research I came across TID 10074160. This states that if a backup or virus scanner runs across compressed NSS storage, it can cause files to disappear to windows explorer. Claiming they are corrupt. (The level of compressed files has grown over the last year)

It instructs the latest NSS patch for NW 6.

I'll look into this and jgill442's solution and update with an outcome...

Cheers!

The NSS Post SP3 patch fixed the problem!

Thanks
