I have a quick question aobut licensing in Netware 5.x. When I have a user map a drive to the server and I map a second drive, does that constitute two licenses used? Thanks.

Scott

I guess I should put a little more information in here. I'm running out of connections to my server and I'm trying to track down licensing issues. I do get a lot of connections that say "not logged in" as well as a lot of them that are duplicates that have an asterik besides them. Any help would be appreciated.

No, once a user is connected that is one license no matter how many drives they map. If my memory serves, not logged in connections and connections with an asterisk by them do not use up licenses.

Thanks, I checked the connections and licensing and that made perfect sense. Thanks.

Oh, I guess I have one more question, if you map to two different servers in a tree, do you need two licenses in 5.x?

For NetWare 5.1 and below, each server you connect to requires a separate user license.

For Netware 6.0 and above, you only need to purchase licenses for the number of users in your tree. It does not matter how many servers you connect to.
