I have a Netware 4.1 running in bindery emulation. This morning when I walked in, people told me they couldn't print to the color laser printer which is controlled by the netware 4. I found my desktop still logged in as supervisor and can browser the server. But I can't log out. Nor can I find and connect to the server on other machines.

The server console only displayed one error, "User xxx account lock out." However, you can't even establish a connection to the server, let alone log in as anybody.

Is there a console command to fix it or unload and load the bindery or NDS, without having to reboot the server?

Please Help! Thank you so much!

I'd suggest you LOAD DSREPAIR at the console and run a FULL UNATTENDED REPAIR from the menu. I'd also suggest you have a full backup before you run this. I run DSREPAIR often and have never had a problem, however - "An ounce of prevention..."

Agree with running dsrepair. If the DS is locked and dsrepair cannot run, you may be able to see what the error is by using DSTRace and switches. It will then give you an NDS error code which you can then look up its resolution on Some DSTRace switches are:
Set Dstrace=on (switches screen output on)
Set Dstrace=1 (reverses any previous filters)
Set Dstrace=+sync (synchronisation filter on)
Set Dstrace=*st (Backlinking process status includes obituaries, limber etc, need to toggle to Directory Services output screen straight after issueing this command otherwise output scrolls off screen)

Set TTF=on (Sends all screen output to SYS:\SYSTEM\DSTRACE.DBG for viewing through a text editor)
Set Dstrace=*R (Restarts logging of screen output to dstrace.dbg file - overwrites previous enteries)
Set Dstrace=ALL (Switches all filters on - takes more CPU Utilisation - and can have soooo much information you will get lost! For the advanced users)
Set TTF=off (Switches file logging off - must do when finished troubleshooting!)
Set Dstrace=off (Switches Directory Services screen off - must do when finished troubleshooting!)

Once you have done this, view the Dstrace.dbg for error codes.
For example -736 DS Locked needs to be fixed by 1. Patching to latest patch, then 2. Dsrepair -736

There are many reasons why DS Is locked, and its recommended to find the cause, errors before attempting a repair so that you can prevent this re-occurring.
Cheers and good luck!
