A client has a 3.12 server and the SYS:MAIL dir mysteriously disappeared. Now he can't add users. Syscon baulks with SYS:MAIL/2.....1 does not exist.

It's been many years since I have been asked to support Netware but I remember that SYS:MAIL was important.

Is there a utility to rebuild the Mail dir from the bindery? Is it necessary to rebuild this dir structure?

Thanks in advance...

Hi drd2k

With NW3.x each user has a user Id (syscon-user information-other information!?). When you create a user in syscon, a directory with the users ID is created under sys:mail.
In the directory sys:mail\1234 you will find the user login script saved in a file called LOGIN (ascii file).
Just create a mail directory and the corresp. User directories. Use a text editor to create a file named LOGIN. Don't forget to assign trustee assignments to this directory for the user.

Alain

That's what I remebered about the sys:mail directory. I am planning to use the jrb 8.00 listobj and bindview/edit utils with some .batrobatics to recreate the user folders and assign the rights as well as stuff in a generic login file.

Thanks for the support.

You can run BINDFIX to recreate all user SYS:MAIL directoires automatically, it will also assign all rights.
