Is there a replacement program that will do what the Net Send or MSG command does? I am trying to find a way to send quick popup messages to all computer in my network with out the need to install software on all computers (I can install it on my windows 2003 server but do not want to have to install on all client computers)The Net Send and MSG commands just do not work

since the messenger service is very unsecure I should still look at other alternatives right? How unsecure is it?

Glad you got it working.

It's only as secure as your network is from the outside. Enabling it internally should be fine as long as your network as a whole is secured from the outside.

Thanks,
Andrew

I do have a Sonicwall Hardware Firewall between network and rotuer, so I should be ok :)

I am no security guru, i'll take your word :)

Thanks,
Andrew

You can post a question here forum1385 about configuring your Sonicwall device.

Keep in mind that as soon as you need to add a Vista or Win7 box to your network you're still SOL, so I would look at alternatives.

MasterRacker what do you mean SOL?

I think he meant that you are Sh1t outta' luck ;)

Sounds to me like sonic wall firewalls don't support windows 7 or vista.

Thanks,
Andrew

LOL I guess I am SOL, no plans to implement Vista ever however I am sure I will implement Win7 eventually...so that means that if I have Vista or Win7 machines behind the firewall it would be as if they are not behind a firewall at all??...that sucks! I did not know that

You will have no problem with your firewall.

What I meant is that Vista and Windows 7 no longer have the Messenger service at all. You will need some other solution to send messages to those OSes.

Well, that makes a whole lot more sence, Jeff :)

Thanks,
