Can anyone tell me if remote desktop sharing for desktop connections through microsoft netmeeting is encrypted?

depends, take a look

Data encryption ensures that a meeting is secure by encoding the data so it cannot be read by an unauthorized party. Only data from Chat, Whiteboard, shared programs, and transferred files is encrypted. Therefore, secure meetings are data-only; audio and video are disabled.

The user can set the security options so that all incoming and outgoing calls are encrypted. When a call is secure, a secure call icon (yellow safety lock) appears in the NetMeeting window.

To enable the NetMeeting security options

On the Tools menu, click Options, and then click the Security tab.
Under General, select the following check boxes:
I prefer to receive secure incoming calls. Accept only secure calls when I'm not in a meeting.
This option ensures that everyone calling you must be able to send and receive encrypted data. You can only accept calls from people with valid certificates. Incoming calls that are not secure, including audio and video calls, are rejected automatically.

With this option selected, you can still choose to host a non-secure meeting. In this case, non-secure calls are accepted.

I prefer to make secure outgoing calls.
This option ensures that you place secure calls, so that all transmitted data is encrypted. You can override this option for individual calls by clearing the Require security for this call (data only) check box on the Place a Call or Find Someone dialog box.
