Hi, I'm having hard time to setup my Netmeeting.
The remote desktop sharing and sharing function are both grayed out. I've add exception in the firewall mnmsrvc.exe with a check on it and the remote desktop have a check too.

I did uninstall and re-install the netmeeting as per Microsoft web site and shutting down in between + after.. nothing change.
I tried it on 2 different network, just in case it's a question of ports not enable.
Any idea, where to troubleshoot ?
Thanks...

Start, Run, services.msc
Is the Net Meeting Remote Sharing service started?

Start the service and set its Startup desposition to Automatic.

The Netmeeting Remote desktop sharing was not to automatic, so I changed it, then I open Netmeeting. I tried to start the Service but it pop up:
The Netmeeting Remote desktop sharing service on local computer start then stopped. Some service stop.... This seems to be normal since I tried it on another PC. I did call to the other PC and on the other PC I can share but not my laptop which I have problem. XP Pro Service Pack 2..
So even with the service to Automatic. No change.
What's next ?

It is not "normal." The service should run without stopping. Please see your Event Logs for details as to why the service stops on your laptop.

do you have any "security" programs like zone alarm or Norton Internet security? These can sometimes be overzealous. Try disabling if you do have one installed.

The only software that I'm using is virusScan

"Close NetMeeting by clicking on the Close (X) button, or click Call, and then click Exit. The Remote Desktop Sharing icon then appears in the notification area of the Taskbar. Right-click on the icon and then click Activate Remote Desktop Sharing".

Installing Remote Desktop Sharing.

Thanks Linney but i beleive this cannot be applied on WinXP Pro. It seems to be for previous release.

Did you try the bit about activating remote desktop sharing? Do you get the icon in the Notification Area that you can right-click on? I'm sure I have played with that on XP, but it was some time ago.

Also do you have the correct settings for "Remote" in the System Properties of XP.

Have you looked with gpedit.msc at:

Windows Settings

I went thru the whole Registry and evrything is according to what you mention....

My IT service want to re-image my computer, which I'm not too excited...
I don't know what else to check and or change.
There should be a way to make this sharing work..

I went thru the whole Registry and evrything is according to what you mention....

It better not be, as most of the options shown above disable sharing.

There are no other policies that I know of that would effect the Net Meeting status for sharing.

I didn't expressed my self properly.
I did looked into the registry and the sharing is enabled everywhere.

under My Computer\HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Conferencing

There is just the (default) Value not set

Start regedit.
Export the key and post it back here.
