I have WinXP Home Edition. When I start conf.exe, the netmeeting setup begin without a problem. It goes through selecting name, location, video driver I'll be using etc.. Then will go to the sound card driver, Santa Cruz blah blah, press ok, and ........
everytime the system reboots at that point.

Any suggestions what could be causing this?

At first guess, the soundcard driver.
Make sure you have the latest driver.
To test, skip the sound part on netmeeting config. The solution is out there. [morning]

To get further information about the error look in your Event viewer.

Look in the System or Application folder. You can get to the Event Viewer via right click My Computer icon and select Manage.

Any errors logged in the Event Viewer can be expanded by double clicking on the error line.

Also check any "Information" line that mentions "savedump" and you should find reference to "recovered from a bug check". This is the Stop Error that caused your problem.

You can also turn off "automatically restart after an error" so it will just halt at the fault and display the full Stop Error and blue screen.

Right-click My Computer, and then click Properties .
On the Advanced tab, click Settings under Startup and Recovery .
Click to clear the Automatically restart check box under System failure , and then click OK . The error message on a blue screen should remain on the screen so you can record the error information.

Post back with exact Error Message.

I found the "dump file." Here is exactly what it states.

The computer has rebooted from a bugcheck. The bugcheck was: 0x10000050 (0x8005d215, 0x00000000, 0xf1e19ecc, 0x00000000). A dump was saved in: C:\WINDOWS\Minidump\Mini122002-01.dmp.

I don't think it's the soundcard driver, but I will check for new drivers nonetheless, couldn't hurt anyway.

I'll post the entire message when I try to set up netmeeting again after I clear the automatically restart feature. It's not crucial that I have this program, but I would like to get down to the bottom of it. It's like a bad itch you can't get to. Right now I'm using aim aol messenger to communicate with my father and I know he's like to use his web cam.

I am also getting the fault then Event Viewer Information is

"Faulting application explorer.exe, version 6.0.2800.1106, faulting module msctf.dll, version 5.1.2600.1106, fault address 0x00031a2c."

Any tips?
