netlogon service not starting

hi

when i boot up my win2k prof station and try to logo on to my nt domain an error message says that the netlogon service has not been started, i tried waiting for 5 mins and that didnt work, so every time i boot up the pc now i have to log on as a local admin then start the service manually then log off and then log on the the domain. the service is set to start automaticly.

any help would err be helpful!

Anything relevant in the Event Logs?
Try this: Disable the netlog. Re-start and then set to Automatic.
Test with the Manual setting as well.

i have tried re-setting it. an entry in the event log says:

<The Net Logon service terminated with service-specific error 5737.>

does anyone know what this means?

I had the same problem last week. You need to go to the command prompt and type: tcmsetup /c server1 server2, then reboot the machine and it should work.

Can you post the event ID number here?

what does that command do then?

the event ID is 7024

Is the workstation service starting? Also, try removing it from the domain and adding it back. You could also try reinstalling sp2 and getting all the newest fixes from microsoft. As for the command given here, that is for telephony service and probably will not help your problem.

the workstation service is working fine. i have tried removeing it from the domain and adding it again. i havnt put sp2 on this machine yet, do you think it will make a diffrence? if so ill have to dig the disk out.

ill five that at try when i get a chance to download it at work, ive only got a 56k dial up at home and sp2 nearley 100meg!
we have just had a 120mbps link put in so ill use that and annoy everyone!

right i applyd sp2 and it still doesnt start!. any sugestions? this is really annoying as each time i start eh station up i have to log on as local admin start it then log off then logon to network.
