I have recently installed a Netgear PS110 print server with an Epson Stylus Color 740 printer and a Samsung ML-6060 laser printer connected to it. I have no issues with the laser printer from either my win2K PC or my Win98 PC, however I just cannot get the Epson to work properly.

The Epson was working fine connected directly into the Win98 parallel port, but when I send anything to it via the PS110 it just hangs. I've turned off bidirectional printing, set the data format to RAW, set the spool option to print after the last page (as recommended by Netgear), but still no joy.

Windows 2000 is another world of pain as far as this model is concerned. It was working happily directly connected to the parallel port of the PC using an NT 4 driver, until I installed a Service Pack, then it wouldn't install the driver again (even after uninstalling the Service Pack). I downloaded the Win2K driver from Epson, but this isn't digitally signed by Microsoft, and when it is installed anything sent to the printer causes the spooler to explode and Dr Watson is called in. Needless to say this behaviour is still occurring when using the PS110.

I would appreciate any help at all as I'm at my wit's end ... haven't heard back from Netgear either.

Is the printer listed as supported by the PS110? You can find out at I have the same print server at home and have become an expert with it. I had a lexmark z11 and tried to network it and both netgear and lexmark said it could not be done. I went to lexmarks site and found a uni-driver for it instead of the official driver. I connected the printer to the PS110 and when i connected to the printer i used the uni-driver. The generic driver made it work like a charm. The only thing bad as that i could not administer the printer, like ink levels and such. it always said it was full. but i bet your problem is similar. I had lockups too. go to epsons site and find a generic driver if you can.

Thanks for the reply. I've actually sorted out my problems. With Win2000 I had to use Microsoft's driver, which unfortunately doesn't expose all the features of the printer, but it's ok. I still couldn't get the printer to work on either Win98 or Win2K until I looked closely at the electronic manual for the PS110 under the Physical Port settings: it says that the handshake signal is set to "Busy" by default and mine was set to "Ack & Busy" (straight out of the box).

When I reset both printer ports to "Busy", everything miraculously worked fine!

Maybe you gentelmen can be of assistance. I recently installed a Netgear PS110. The problem I'm having is that I installed a HP 2100 laserjet and a HP 920c. The 2100 worked fine but am not able to print to the 920c. What's the deal? I installed the Netgear to all of the pc's and everyone printed fine to the 2100 but not to the 920c. ANy suggestions would be helpful..

I've recently installed an FM114P Netgear firewall w/ print server and I'm having a similar problem as you describe for my WIN98 PCs. I would eagerly like to try to reset the printer port settings to see if this resolves my issue - but don't know how to get to the print server port settings. I realize that the PS110 is a different piece of hardware - but if you could describe where you found the port settings on your print server, it might help me find them for my FM114P.
Thanks...mvanderburg
